What am I up to?

Hello, I’m Harcharan Singh, and today, I want to share what I’m doing in the world of coaching and mentoring, specifically in the tech and career space. Picture this: a bustling world filled with industries crying out for skilled professionals, and there I am, playing matchmaker between bright college students and high-demand job opportunities. Sounds simple, right? Well, it’s a bit more than that—but that’s exactly what makes it so exciting!

The Need for Mentors in a Skills-Hungry World

Let’s face it—the job market today is tough. There’s no shortage of job seekers, but there’s a noticeable shortage of qualified candidates. The catch? The industry is evolving at breakneck speed, and universities can’t always keep up with the pace. That’s where mentors like me step in. The coaching industry is booming, and it’s not just about providing inspiration or vague advice anymore. It’s about rolling up our sleeves and providing actionable, in-demand skills to students.

What am I doing in this space, you ask? I’m developing and delivering industry-specific programs designed to make students job-ready—whether they hail from bustling cities or rural areas where resources might be a bit scarce. In this process, I’m helping students from any stream, any background, transform from being “just graduates” into “highly employable candidates.”

My Industry Connect Program: From Education to Employment

At the core of my work is the Industry Connect Program, a successful initiative that’s already making waves in multiple colleges. The mission is simple: give students access to the skills they need to thrive in today’s competitive job market. Whether you’re studying engineering, arts, or something in between, this program is designed to equip you with the tools to land a job.

And no, it’s not just about making people “employable” in the general sense. I’ve identified specific high-demand domains that industries are clamoring for right now. The following are the primary career tracks:

  1. Full Stack Development (MERN Stack)
  2. Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI
  3. Cybersecurity
  4. Cloud Computing
  5. Digital Marketing
  6. Software Quality Assurance

Training Beyond Tech: Communication Skills and Interview Prep

It’s not enough to be technically skilled—you also have to communicate those skills effectively. That’s why we emphasize communication and interview skills in all our programs. If you can’t convey your value to an employer, how can they hire you? We train students to present themselves with confidence, whether it’s a formal interview or a casual networking event.

Think of it like this: you could be the sharpest tool in the shed, but if you’re hidden in the back, no one’s going to pick you up. We’re making sure students are not only sharp but also front and center when companies come knocking.

Bringing Opportunity to Rural Communities

Now here’s where it gets exciting for me. The cities are overflowing with resources—high-end courses, training, and workshops—but what about the students in rural areas? These bright minds don’t always have access to the same opportunities. That’s why my mission is to bring these programs to the places that need them most. I want to level the playing field, offering the same industry-standard education to students in rural areas, giving them a fighting chance in this fast-paced world.

We deliver these programs offline, directly to rural communities, because I believe talent doesn’t recognize geography. Whether you’re in a bustling city or a quiet village, everyone deserves access to the skills that will propel them forward in life.

Bringing Opportunity to Rural Communities

So, what am I really doing? I’m not just running programs; I’m building bridges. Bridges between students and their future careers, between rural and urban education, and between where people are now and where they could be. This is more than just teaching technical skills—it’s about holistic development. I’m committed to making students job-ready by equipping them with both hard and soft skills, preparing them for the challenges they’ll face in the real world.

So, whether you’re a student in need of these skills or someone from a rural background looking for an opportunity to learn, my doors (and website) are open. You can find me at www.onegreatmentor.com, and I’d love to connect and help you reach your goals.

Work Experience

I bring extensive cross-cultural experience, having worked with companies from the US, UK, EU, and India, and collaborated across diverse work environments throughout India and abroad. In 2007, I spent three transformative months in the United States as Head of IT at Purkinje Inc., a healthcare-focused organization managing data center operations in downtown DC. This role underscored my leadership in international settings. Later, as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for NetApp Storage Solution with Dimension Data, I represented the company at prestigious events in Macau and visited their offices in Singapore, further enriching my global professional perspective.
